Yes, I saw
Step Brothers today, and I don't care what all the reviews said, it was awesome. Let's stay kids forever!
My ramblings, let me show you them:
- I have my
heroes_bigboom posting date! September 13th! Honestly, I'll be glad when it's over and done with.
- I've been (over-)thinking time travel in the Heroes universe lately, since I'm writing a FYG fic and
( do we still warn for S1 spoilers? )- Two more things I remembered from when I was in Canada; Eric McCormack was totally having breakfast at the same cafe as me and my dad across from the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, and I swear, the international student advisor at UBC looked scarily similar to Jewel Staite. :D
- It feels like everyone I know is off to university and
doing something, and I'm just here, being exactly the same as always. For instance, when I browsed through my old friends from primary on facebook, they're all drinking and smoking and having relationships, and I'm not exactly saying I'm jealous (because: 1) possibly, 2) no thank you, 3) geek boy only pls) but I just feel like I'm basically still the same dorky kid I was when I was eight, except now I wear glasses, have big tits and write porn. It's not a bad thing, really, but I always feel like I'm standing still when everyone is moving on.
My exam results might have contributed to this miserable revelation.
- Snagged from
terra, because I'm feeling the need at the moment:
Sometimes it's okay to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fics favorite you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.1)
Dreams With The Flying Pigs. I know it says it doesn't have to be the best, but this really is the fic I'm most proud of at the moment. Elle's a difficult character to write, keeping the balance between crazy, sociopathic and vulnerable, and I think I did okay. I didn't tell more than show, I hope (which has been my biggest problem of late) and I actually managed to keep to one perspective, instead of bouncing all over the place like I normally do.
2)
The song meme. Characters other than Peter and Claire, fuck yeah! And I wrote it all in about nine minutes, with no idea what the hell I was going to do before I started, so I'm pleased with the way it turned out.
3)
Until I Sleep. I can't tell you how much I love the idea of Claire in space. No really, Claire in space, not allowing herself to grow all bitter and cynical about the whole being immortal thing, kicking ass and taking names. I loved writing this one.
4)
Don't Try This At Home. Poooorn. And proof that I used to be able to bring the funny, rather than the death and the angst.
5)
The End Is All I Can See. I only posted this a couple of days ago, and I really had fun developing Molly's character in the future. And Matt/Mohinder/Molly fans give
the best reviews ever. It's like crack.
