Can anyone recommend a good DVD ripping application? I've downloaded trials for SmartRipper, Daniusoft DVD Ripper and Magic DVD Ripper. I couldn't get Magic and SmartRipper to work, mostly they kept freezing up on me. Daniusoft is fairly good, but I'll have to pay £15 after the trial period ends. I tried HandBrake, which worked perfectly on my Mac, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to work it.

So, any good free applications (or HandBrake instructions for idiots)?
