I'm taking a brake (hoho, car-humour!) from my lessons at the moment (you see what they've done to me!), as I need more quantity practice, and I can go for rides with my parents, or anyone over 25 who's had their liceince for at least 5 uninterrupted years.
My instructor is boring. Luckily most of our lessons are at 7 in the morning, so we've got a valid excuse not to small talk too much :P
I'd still prefer a more like minded bloke, though. Good for you!
